The Blog Glo-Up Tag

Last week I had my one-year blogiversary and recently I saw this amazing and super thematically relevant tag created by WhatTheLog, so I decided to do this tag!

Rules:

  1. Credit the original creator, whatthelog
  2. Answer the questions!
  3. Tag as many or as few people as you like

Why did you create your blog?

Partly because I wanted a place to talk about books, partly because I wanted to practice writing more (like writing reviews) and partly because I did a creative writing course and they advised on having a blog where you can gather an audience an eventually post some of your CW work 😛 But honestly MOSTLY because I need a place to vent my bookish thoughts!

When did you start your blog?

I created the account maybe at the end of 2017, but I actually started for serious on March 7th 2018.

What was your first post about?

It was my review of Maggie Stiefvater’s All the Crooked Saints!

Have you had any significant design or name changes?

No, the design is still the same as when I started because I put a lot of effort into making it pretty before I began posting 😛 I did tinker around with blog post formats, like pictures and how I formatted reviews and such.

What has been the biggest change to your blog’s content?

In the very beginning I did a lot of tags and those reading updates every week. They’re fun to do, but took a lot of time and I prefer writing reviews, even if they don’t get as many views.

Who or what has been the biggest influence on your blogging journey?

There’s a large number of bloggers I admire that I follow, but I couldn’t pinpoint what has actually influenced me, to be honest. I think they all influence me in some way or another 🙂

If before you started you could look at your blog now, what would surprise you the most?

That it managed to grow so quickly! Especially despite the four month break I took in the summer, because I burned myself out doing way too many posts. I’m close to 300 followers now and I’m really happy with it. Also that I seem to have found book blog ‘acquaintances’ – people whose blog I read and who read mine and we comment on each other’s posts. It’s really nice to have that!

What personal milestone have you hit that makes you the proudest?

I hit 400 monthly visitors in January which I’m still REALLY proud of.

What do you see next for your blog?

I’m planning on redoing the whole design, the colors, the headers, etc. But it till have to wait for a while, as it will be a lot of work, taking new pictures and making new headers and my health isn’t amazing right now. I also want to write more about movies I see and really incorporate movies into my book blog!

I tag everyone who feels like doing this 🙂
