Top Five Tuesday – Books I’d Save From A Fire

It’s time for another Top Five Tuesday! This is a book blog meme that’s hosted over on Bionic Bookworm! The topic of this week is ‘books I’d save from a fire’. Though I doubt if I’d go back into a housefire to save books – I’d be too busy making sure all my cats are okay (man, it freaks me out a little just thinking about it, my cats are such nervous creatures even when there’s nothing actually dangerous I don’t know how I’d get them outside if there was a fire!!) – but let’s just pretend everyone is fine πŸ˜› SO! Here’s my list!

  1. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
    Goodreads | Order here*
This is my favorite book of all time, but I’d also save this because I have a beautiful edition. A children’s edition with a beautiful drawing of the hobbit hole on the cover. And my mom has a reprint of the original first edition and I’d like to save that too because it’s so pretty!
  2. The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen
    Goodreads | Order here*
I got my copy of this book second hand on Amazon and when it arrived the front cover was covered in something sticky, I guess coffee, and I was really sad. But then I found out it was really easy to remove and soon it looked amazing! So I feel very possessive of this copy of the bookΒ  because I feel like I salvaged it? Really silly maybe but yeah. I also just love this story to death. It’s about a fat women who is kept small by her mother but she finds her own strength eventually. Sarah Addison Allen’s books are all amazing, full of friendship and romance and a hint of magic.
  3. This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
    Goodreads | Order here*
Honestly I’ve read this book so many times I know it by heart. I think it’s her best book with the best protagonist and I love to read it in summer. It’s just such a nice story while still complex and interesting and about true human emotions? I love it. Writing about it now makes me want to reread it again πŸ˜›
  4. Inkworld Trilogy by Cornelia Funke
    Goodreads | Order here*
I have to say, I haven’t read this in a long time, but I so, so loved it when I was younger and actually I really want to read it again soon. And I have such a beautiful edition. It’s just the normal hardback one, but it’s just so beautiful. Perfect colors, perfect drawings, perfect paper. Just like I think a book should look. *Deep sigh*
  5. Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
    Goodreads | Order here*
This is my absolute favorite graphic novel ever. It’s funny and clever and full of friendship and monsters and adventure and action and all kinds of other things. I’ve read this so many times that I lost count and it always cheers me up whenever I need it, and I think if there was a fire to deal with I’d really need this to take my mind off things πŸ˜›

That was it for this week! Have you read any of these books? Do you like them? What are some books you would save from a fire? Let me know in the comments!

    1. Inkworld is just amazing, but I also always kind of forget about it :’) It just seems to kind of have disappeared everywhere, so I’m not reminded of its existence? But it’s so good ^^ I really want to reread it soon.

  1. Oh Nimona! That book has a special place in my heart! I would need to save that one too! My daughter read if after I finished it and now “I’m a shark!” is our little inside joke. That graphic novel is so good!!
Thanks for participating – added you to the list πŸ™‚
